w00t - a pleasant surprise in a small package

I got a bunch of siglo I and monte 5's the other day as handy small cigars for friends and a cheap (ish) option for when I am being a bit half arsed.Normally I leave cigars to sit for a while before…Continue

I would sincerely hope everyone here is on the laphy mailing list but for those that aren't: [quote] Dear Simon, Further to my email about Laphroaig Live in Sydney, I wanted to contact you…Continue

Air cleaning ness

When I flew through dubai airport a couple years back they had smoking "rooms" which were open air areas. You stood inside a special area which had fans above the ashtrays and (presumably) above our…Continue

When putting cigars into my humidor I do one of two things: 1. Leave stuff I intend to age on the original boxes and just pack them in the bottom.2. Open one or two boxes and put them in the trays…Continue

Man you want to see the anti snus campaign. From memory Sweden has the lowest rate of lung cancer in the EU and it is largely because people use snus instead of smoking cigarettes. But because it is (again memory) a class A drug in the rest of the…

Sydney has been insanely humid for the past few weeks. If you are chewing water now either you didn't prep the humidor (and it will fix itself so long as you keep feeding it water) or your cigars are insanely dry (but will kind of fix…

I'll give it a shot: Monte Cristo #5: cheap and small Cohiba Siglo I: again small, but a bit more expensive due to the brand / quality depending on opinion Partagas Lusitania: honkingly great big bloody thing which also has the partagas…

I would chuck in at least one of the over the top expensive (but also good) ones so they know whether they can taste the difference. Might save them dropping a bundle on something they can't tell the difference. For that matter I'd…

I think I have had them and I think I quite liked it. Change is as good as a holiday. Slavish adherence to some imaginary set of rules is retarded. We're not americans after all :)

I have bought from them twice now. Both times the shipment was domestic so there was no customs involvement.

Cohiba Esplendido, all the talk of bad draws made me go check :) Freely admit first third was slow. I kind of like it though, it is not a "bad draw" per se but more a slow run up to the finish. It is a damn long stogey after all. And I do…

That does seem to be the consensus. I got them with that in mind and have bunged them in the bottom of the humidor, with any luck they will be a nice surprise in a few years time. Anybody else considering this might be interested to see that…

Hard to say. I bought a few boxes of esplendidos and the first couple I smoked were pretty bad draws. Left them for maybe 6 months and I had one the other day which was much better. All of LE's I have bought have been fine from day one…

uhhhh they are in the humidor now? I am hoping you mean you have two humidors :) I never really trust cigars to work properly til they have had a bit of time to sit and think. I believe that a badly stored / shipped cigar can take some time to fix.…

If I had a box that was that bad I would send it back. If you are smoking 2-3 a day you will be a customer that the supplier wants to keep happy. From your posts I notice you have had burn issues with other cigars though so I wouldn't go…

Hi Simon, I've also been on the small cigar kick of late (everyone's so busy this time of year) and hitting up some coronas. I usually smoke Partagas Shorts/Trindad Reyes and love em (but run out) but at cup of joe o'clock…

I just use the cheap crap water from the supermarket in the ironing aisle. I doubt there would be enough flavour from either to make any difference.
