Hard to say. I bought a few boxes of esplendidos and the first couple I smoked were pretty bad draws. Left them for maybe 6 months and I had one the other day which was much better.
All of LE's I have bought have been fine from day one…

I never really trust cigars to work properly til they have had a bit of time to sit and think. I believe that a badly stored / shipped cigar can take some time to fix.…

If I had a box that was that bad I would send it back. If you are smoking 2-3 a day you will be a customer that the supplier wants to keep happy.

I just use the cheap crap water from the supermarket in the ironing aisle. I doubt there would be enough flavour from either to make any difference.
