Good comments Rob & Jason. Being fairly new to cigars, all of this information is really helpful. I bought a box of Punch Coronations (as part of my humidor selection), and have already noticed a couple of (slight) variances. I'm not expecting a perfect cigar from the Coronation, but I can see the point you both make.

He doesn't make many great points Cameron !LOL!

Blend consistency is still the greatest failing of a Havana cigar....perfection to purgatory....so to speak. Aging a box of Cuban cigars 3-5 years will improve the consistency within a box. In many cases it takes that period of time to balance out the oils which are the essence of the unique flavour of any given marque. Then again there is the issue of how is one feeling from one day or month to the next. What are you eating, how are you feeling, state of mind etc. Finally there is the principal of "Utility" The first great..say..Siglo VI is a revelation. The next could be the exact same cigar, quality, condition but for some reason does not hit the same remarkably high notes. I have had this many times with cigars, wine, Champagne. The palate and mind are remarkable things!

Interesting comment Ken makes around the 3 minute mark, about taking two Cohiba's from the same box and getting one good and one bad. And I love a geek who can smoke and make Buffy references! There's never a bad time to think about Buffy!
